ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Former University of Michigan men's soccer student-athlete Nolan Miller was selected by Orlando City SC with the ninth overall pick in the first round of the 2026 MLS SuperDraft on Thursday (Dec. 18).
Miller becomes the fifth Wolverine to be selected in the first round and the second in as many years after Jason Bucknor was taken 20th overall by the LA Galaxy in the 2025 draft. Miller is the earliest Michigan draft selection since Francis Atuahene was picked fourth by FC Dallas in 2018.
Miller finished his college career with 75 starts in 75 matches on defense for the Maize and Blue. He served on the leadership council in each of his last two seasons in Ann Arbor and tallied 16 points in four seasons with the Wolverines. In 2025, Miller lead a Michigan defense that paced the Big Ten in goals-against average and shutouts, ranked second in goals allowed and third in shots allowed. Under Miller's guidance, Michigan tallied the fourth-most wins in program history in 2025.Â
Miller earned multiple awards on and off the field, including All-Big Ten second-team honors in 2023 and 2025 and two United Soccer Coaches All-North Region nods. Miller was also named to the Academic All-Big Ten team all three years he was eligible and was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team twice.
