ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team earned its first win of the 2026 season with a 3-1 victory over Niagara on Thursday (Aug. 27) at U-M Soccer Stadium.

Three different Wolverines found the back of the net in the win, as Grayson Elmquist shined with a goal and an assist while Kian Concepcion and Joah Reyna scored their first goals for Michigan.

Michigan (1-0-1) controlled the match with 20 shots and 13 corner kicks, including 11 in the first half. The Wolverines applied consistent pressure with 10 shots on target.

Alen Bean earned his first career win in net after being named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday (Aug. 25).

After falling behind early, Michigan gained control of possession for the majority of the first half, launching eight shots and earning 11 corner kicks. Elmquist provided the breakthrough in the 41st minute to knot the score at one.

Michigan found the go-ahead goal in the 54th minute, when Concepcion launched a low line-drive to the bottom-right corner of the net for a 2-1 lead.

The Maize and Blue kept possession for much of the second half with Niagara (0-2-0) struggling to enter the attacking third of the pitch.

Reyna capped off the win with a goal in the 85th minute courtesy of assists from Elmquist and Nico Pendleton.

Up next, Michigan will close out the three-game homestand by hosting SIU Edwardsville on Sunday (Aug. 30) for a 2 p.m. match at U-M Soccer Stadium. The match will also be streamed live on B1G+.
