
Michigan Battles Penn State to Draw

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw in its Big Ten matchup against Penn State on Friday (Oct. 9) at U-M Soccer Stadium.
Senior goalkeeper Isaiah Goldson held Penn State (2-7-1, 0-5-1 Big Ten) silent, tallying three saves in his 2026 season debut for the Maize and Blue.
Michigan (3-4-3, 0-2-2 Big Ten) put together persistent offense, firing 13 shots, including three on goal.
The Wolverines registered a strong defensive effort against Penn State, led by Goldson, holding the Nittany Lions scoreless through 90 minutes.
The Michigan offense applied consistent pressure to the Nittany Lions defense in the second half, firing nine of its 14 shots in the final 45 minutes. The Wolverines came closest in the 89th minute when Alex Gimple sent a shot to the upper-left corner before it was knocked away by the Penn State goalkeeper.
The Wolverines tried to use a few late-game opportunities to take the lead, but were held off, playing to a 0-0 draw at full time.
Next up, U-M will travel to East Lansing to take on in-state rival Michigan State on Tuesday (Oct. 13) at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
