ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team scored three times in the second half to defeat SIUE, 3-2, on Sunday (Aug. 30) at U-M Soccer Stadium.

Grayson Elmquist starred once again for the Maize and Blue, scoring twice in just over 20 minutes, including the game-winning goal in the 84th minute.

Nico Pendleton scored his first goal in a Michigan uniform to get the Wolverines on the board in the 57th minute.

Four different Wolverines tallied an assist, including Alex Gimple and Jake Tatch, who each notched their first career helpers in the win.

Both teams traded shots to get the game underway, with Alen Bean making a crucial stop in the 12th minute to keep the game scoreless.

SIUE (0-3-0) opened the scoring off a free kick in the 42nd minute to take the lead into halftime.

Michigan (2-0-1) applied pressure from the first whistle of the second half as Elmquist fired two shots that required saves and Tatch fired an attempt at goal in the first four minutes of the second stanza.

The Wolverine pressure paid off in the 57th minute as Pendleton found the bottom-left corner of the SIUE net to tie the game at one.

After Tatch drew a handball in the attacking penalty box, Elmquist stepped up and buried his first penalty kick of 2026 to give Michigan a 2-1 lead in the 63rd minute.

SIUE found an equalizer in the 66th minute, but Elmquist delivered the game-winner in the 84th minute to help Michigan move to 2-0-1 on the season.

Next up, Michigan will face its first road test of the season when it travels to South Bend, Ind., to take on Notre Dame on Sunday (Sept. 6) at 3:30 p.m. on ACC Network.
