
U-M Set for Home Conference Match Against Penn State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team (3-4-2, 0-2-1 Big Ten) will return to Big Ten Conference play at home when it takes on Penn State (2-7-0, 0-5-0 Big Ten) on Friday (Oct. 9) at 7 p.m. at U-M Soccer Stadium. The match will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan returns to Big Ten play with a 3-4-2 overall record, most recently falling 2-1 to Portland in its final non-conference match on Sunday (Oct. 4).
• Freshman Alex Gimple scored his first career goal in the 90th minute to pull the Wolverines within one goal of Portland in the final seconds.
• Nico Pendleton and Kian Concepcion were awarded assists on Gimple's goal. It was Pendleton's third assist of the season, tying Joao Paulo Ramos for the most on the team.
• Eight Wolverines have scored at least one goal through nine matches, led by Grayson Elmquist with four. Elmquist ranks seventh in the Big Ten in goals scored, netting four goals in eight games.
• Michigan and Penn State will meet for the 34th time in program history. The Wolverines trail the all-time series 16-12-5.
• Michigan played Penn State to a scoreless draw the last time these teams met in State College in 2025, while the Wolverines defeated the Nittany Lions 2-1 in their last meeting in Ann Arbor during the 2024 regular season.
• Next up, the Wolverines will travel to East Lansing to continue Big Ten play against in-state rival Michigan State on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m.
