ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team fell 1-0 in a close battle with No. 5 Indiana on Friday (Sept. 11) at U-M Soccer Stadium.
Michigan (2-2-1, 0-1-0 Big Ten) put together a strong defensive performance against the fifth-ranked Hoosiers, allowing just three shots on goal throughout the match
The Wolverine offense created opportunities of their own, firing six shots, including one on goal. Michigan's best chance came from a set piece outside the box. Joao Paulo Ramos sent the free kick to the upper-right corner of the net before the Indiana goalkeeper knocked it away.
Indiana (6-0-1, 1-0-0 Big Ten) broke the stalemate with its lone goal in the 65th minute. Michigan continued to battle through the final 25 minutes but was unable to find the equalizer.
Next up, Michigan will continue Big Ten play against UCLA on Friday, Sept. 18, at Wallis Annenberg Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif.
