Notes
• The Wolverines are coming off a weekend sweep at Maryland and have won 18 of their last 22 contests dating back to March 28. U-M earned its first extra-inning win of the season in the opener against the Terrapins with a 10th-inning Joonsung Park home run, which put Michigan ahead 2-1. The Wolverines then scored 17 runs on Saturday to win 17-5 in seven innings. On Sunday, Park was again the hero, capping U-M's 8-7 win with a go-ahead, two-run double in an 8-7 sweep-clinching victory.
• Park has seen action in the team's last 12 games, with nine starts -- including four straight. The junior has scored seven runs this year with 13 RBI, most coming in clutch situations. He has four game-winning hits and five game-winning runs in the last 12 games, during which the Wolverines are 10-2. Park is hitting .289 this season, with six extra-base hits, and has reached base in all but one contest over the last 12 games.
• Kurt Barr holds a 3.24 earned-run average this season, leading a Michigan pitching staff that sports a 4.64 team ERA, ranking 48th in the NCAA. Barr has 81 strikeouts, surpassing last year's total of 74, in 69.2 innings. The senior ranks ninth all-time in career strikeouts with 232.
• Colby Turner's U-M record hitting streak came to an end at 24 games on Friday against Maryland. However, he had a career day on Saturday, going 4-for-6 with two home runs, four runs and seven RBI. The junior homered again on Sunday and is now slashing .392/.458/.683 and leads the Big Ten in batting average and total bases.
• Shane Brinham has been in the Wolverine rotation for the last five weekends and Michigan is 5-0 in those starts. Brinham started the stretch with a seven-strikeout complete game against Oregon before strong outings at Michigan State and against Northwestern. The freshman has struggled with walks in his two most recent starts, but he has allowed just four runs. He holds a 3.94 ERA this year with 43 strikeouts in 45.2 innings pitched.
• Brayden Jefferis now has the longest active on-base streak on the team. He drew a walk on Friday before a home run on Saturday with four RBI and finished the weekend going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. The sophomore is hitting .341 with 24 runs on 61 hits with 38 RBI.
• David Lally Jr. has started the last five weekends for the Wolverines, highlighted by a complete-game one-hitter against Northwestern on April 19. He has allowed seven runs in his last 10 innings across two starts with nine strikeouts. On the season, he has 46 strikeouts in 55.1 innings with a 4.23 ERA.
• Drew Culbertson hit .429 with a .600 on-base percentage over the weekend against Maryland, scoring four runs on three hits across seven at-bats. He tallied two hits in Saturday's contest for his first multi-hit game since March 7. Culbertson leads the Big Ten in sacrifice bunts with nine this season and is the only Wolverine to start every contest.
• Gavin DeVooght picked up his second win of the season, pitching the final 4.1 innings against Maryland on Friday, allowing just two baserunners while striking out four. The junior ranks fourth in the Big Ten in saves with nine, with a 4.00 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 36.0 innings.
• Cade Montgomery returned to the mound for the first time in three weeks and picked up his fourth save of the season in a scoreless ninth against Maryland. He has allowed just three runs over his last 18.2 innings while striking out 20 batters.
• Minnesota holds a 29-18 record and is 10-14 in conference play, good for a three-way tie for ninth place in the Big Ten standings. The Golden Gophers have won three of their last four conference series, only dropping a series against No. 1-ranked UCLA. Minnesota has series wins against Washington, Northwestern and Penn State and has taken one against Iowa, Indiana and Illinois.
• All-time, Michigan trails 105-99 in the all-time series against Minnesota dating back to May 8, 1893. The Wolverines are just 28-44 against the Gophers since 2000, but have won seven of the last 10 games, including three of the last four.
