Barr Signs Undrafted Free Agent Deal with Minnesota Twins

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Pitcher Kurt Barr of the University of Michigan baseball team signed with the Minnesota Twins as an undrafted free agent on Wednesday (July 29) following a record-breaking senior season.
Barr marks the third Wolverine signed as a UDFA in 2026, joining David Lally Jr. and Keegan O'Hearn. Colby Turner (Minnesota) and Noah Miller (Houston Astros) were drafted in the 2026 MLB Draft.
Barr spent all four seasons at Michigan, earning All-Big Ten third-team honors twice (2024, 2026). The senior started 15 games in 2026, totaling a team-leading 79.2 innings pitched and was the only Wolverine pitcher to start every weekend. He struck out 105 batters in his final season, setting a program record for senior pitchers at Michigan. Barr finished the season with a 4.52 earned-run average and pitched a complete game against Michigan State on April 10, striking out 10 Spartans while allowing just two runs on four hits.
Barr appeared in 65 games across his four seasons, starting 46 games and compiling a 17-15 record. He threw 262.2 innings, with 256 strikeouts and 139 walks. He finished his career with a 4.15 ERA and held opponents to a .239 batting average. In addition to his All-Big Ten honors, Barr was an Academic All-Big Ten honoree three times and earned CSC Academic All-District honors in 2026.
