ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team dropped the final regular season game of the season, taking an 8-1 loss to Ohio State on Saturday afternoon (May 16) at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.
Ohio State (29-23, 18-12 Big Ten) opened the scoring in the first inning, plating four runs on two hits off starter Michael Quedens (3-1). David Lally Jr. took the mound in the second and struck out six batters over five innings and allowed just one run over those frames.
Michigan (32-22, 17-13 Big Ten) got on the board in the fourth inning with a solo home run from Brayden Jefferis for his second home run of the weekend and fourth of the season to make the score 4-1. Noah Miller followed with a double but was left stranded.
OSU extended its lead, scoring a run in the seventh and three in the ninth to take an 8-1 lead. U-M did not have a baserunner after the fourth inning to fall in the contest.
The Wolverines will head to the Big Ten Tournament beginning Tuesday (May 19) at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha, Neb. Opponent and game time will be announced later today.
