
Michigan to Travel to Los Angeles for First Midweek Game of Season at CSUN

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (6-4) will continue its spring break trip in California with a midweek matchup against California State Northridge on Tuesday (March 3). First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT at Robert J. Hiegert Field, with the game streaming on ESPN+.
• The Wolverines enter the contest with a 6-4 record and are coming off a series victory over San Diego. Michigan opened the season by winning the Surprise College Baseball Series before posting a 1-2 mark at the College Baseball Series at Globe Life Field. After dropping the series opener to San Diego in extra innings, U-M rebounded to win the final two games by a combined score of 18-2, securing its first series win of the season.
• Carson Luna led the Wolverines in average over the weekend, hitting .625 with five hits, including two doubles. The redshirt freshman added three runs and a walk while starting two games at second base. On the season, Luna is hitting .375 with three runs, six hits and one RBI.
• Colby Turner continued his hot streak after three home runs last weekend. Turner went 7-for-14 against San Diego with three extra base hits, five runs and six RBIs. The junior tallied three hits in the finale, including a home run, while adding two more runs. This season, Turner is second on the team in batting average, hitting .333 and leads Michigan in OPS at .984.
• Greg Pace Jr. had a strong day at the plate on Saturday, going 3-for-3 and reaching an additional two times against the Toreros. Pace added one run and three RBIs in the contest, and added one more hit, run and RBI over the course of the weekend. He raised his average by more than 50 points from the start of the weekend, and is now hitting .308 with five runs, eight hits and six RBIs.
• Brenden Stressler leads the Wolverines with a .415 batting average and is one of 12 Big Ten players hitting above .400 this season. The junior has reached base safely in every game and recorded at least one hit in nine of Michigan's first 10 contests, including seven multi-hit performances. Stressler went 5-for-14 at the plate against San Diego, scoring three runs and driving in two.
• Brayden Jefferis batted .308 during the weekend series, totaling four hits, two runs and two RBIs. Half of his hits went for extra bases, highlighted by a double and a triple against the Toreros. The sophomore has started every game this season at third base and has yet to commit an error at the hot corner. Jefferis ranks sixth among Michigan's qualified hitters with a .348 on-base percentage.
• Grant Bradley combined with starter Tate Carey for a shutout of San Diego on Saturday (Feb. 28). Bradley earned his first career save, pitching three scoreless innings and allowing just two base runners while striking out a career-high five batters. He had just one other appearance prior to this weekend, which was a scoreless inning against Kansas State.
• Tyler Finkbeiner earned his first career win on Sunday (March 1) after relieving Kurt Barr in the fifth inning. The freshman pitched 3.1 innings and did not allow a run on one hit and two walks while he struck out four. This season, Finkbeiner has a 1.42 ERA with seven strikeouts in 6.1 innings pitched.
• Gavin DeVooght picked up his fourth save of the season on Sunday against San Diego. DeVooght is tied with Adam Troy of USC for the conference lead in saves -- with both pitchers appearing in six contests. DeVooght has pitched 9.1 innings so far this season with 10 strikeouts and holds a 0.96 ERA.
• California State Northridge enters the contest with a 6-5 record and is coming off a series loss to Western Michigan. The Matadors took the Saturday contest, 11-4, but dropped Friday's game, 11-1, and Sunday's contest, 10-5. All-time, Michigan is 3-2 against CSUN, winning a series at Robert J. Hiegert Field in 2019.
