April 17 -- Erin O'Grady, Jill Smith
Tewaaraton Award Nominees
» Jill Smith is a three-time nominee, while this is Erin O'Grady's second nomination.
» O'Grady has started 12 games in the cage this season, making 125 saves and tallying eight wins. She becomes the third goalkeeper in program history with more than 300 career stops (309). She is also three saves shy of setting the U-M career wins record of 24.
» She leads the nation with a .561 save percentage and ranks seventh nationally and second in the Big Ten with 10.4 saves per game.
» Smith has started all 14 games this season, leading the team with 59 points, including a team-best 41 goals. She ranks fifth in the Big Ten in points and ninth in draw controls (55).
» The senior attacker has scored in 31 consecutive games -- the longest streak in program history, breaking her previous record of 22 games spanning the 2022-23 seasons -- having scored in every game since Feb. 24, 2024. She is one game away from tying Caitlin Muir's 32-game point streak from April 13, 2019, to March 13, 2022.
» Smith became the Michigan career points leader on March 27, scoring in the fourth quarter against Ohio State as part of a seven-point day (three goals, four assists) -- all in the second half -- to bring her career total to 207. She now sits at 222 career points.
» Founded in 2001, The Tewaaraton Award is an annual honor recognizing the most outstanding American college lacrosse men's and women's players.
April 15 -- Erin O'Grady
IWLCA, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week
» Erin O'Grady made 12 saves against No. 5 Johns Hopkins to become the third goalkeeper in program history with more than 300 career stops, bringing her total to 309.
» She recorded her ninth game this season -- and 15th of her career -- with 10 saves or more.
» O'Grady leads the nation with a .561 save percentage, and her 10.4 saves per game ranks second in the Big Ten and seventh nationally.
» The IWLCA honor is the third of her career after earning it twice last season, the last coming Feb. 27, 2024.
March 25 – Julia Schwabe
Big Ten Midfielder of the Week
» With her four points against USC, Julia Schwabe became just the ninth Wolverine in program history to record 100 career points.
» She had one goal and three assists against the Trojans, tallying one in the third and two in the fourth quarter to secure U-M's comeback.
» Added one caused turnover to her stat line.
» Has 14 goals and is just six goals from tying her season-best 20 goals in 2024.
» The honor is the fourth weekly conference honor of Schwabe's career; she was named Midfielder of the Week in 2023 and was a two-time Freshman of the Week in 2022.
March 4 -- Caroline Byrd
Big Ten Freshman of the Week
» Caroline Byrd notched her second straight multi-point game with three points against No. 12 Penn on Saturday (March 1).
» She scored one goal and had two assists, placing three of her four shots on goal.
» Byrd ranks fifth on the Wolverines with 11 points, while ranking 15th in the conference in assists.
» The honor is the first of Byrd's career.
Feb. 25 -- Emma Burke
Big Ten Freshman of the Week
» Emma Burke set a Michigan single-game record with 17 draw-control wins against Marquette.
» She won a team-best seven draw controls against Central Michigan to total 24 draw-control wins in two games.
» Averaged 12 draws per game and ranks fourth in the conference with 30 draw wins in three games.
» Ranks sixth nationally with 9.67 draws per game, which ranks No. 1 in the Big Ten.
» The honor is the first of Burke's career.
Feb. 5 -- Kaylee Dyer, Erin O'Grady, Jill Smith
Big Ten Players to Watch
» Kaylee Dyer is a Big Ten Player to Watch for the second-straight season after ranking second in points for the Wolverines in 2024 with 69.
» Named a USA Lacrosse Third Team Preseason All-American.
» Accounted for 50 of U-M's 248 goals in the 2024 season.
» Had a 15-game point streak and tallied 13 multi-goal games and 10 hat tricks in her junior campaign.
» Erin O'Grady enters her senior season as the USA Preseason Goalie of the Year and was named to the first team for both the Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American teams.
» Was the IWLCA Goalie of the Year and the Big Ten Goalie of the Year.
» Led the nation in goals against average (7.34) and ranked second in save percentage (.549) in the 2024 campaign.
» Made 150 saves last season and became just the fifth goalie in U-M history to record 100 saves in a single season.
» Jill Smith is also a Big Ten Player to Watch for the second-straight season after leading the Wolverines with 71 points in the 2024 season.
» Named a USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse First Team Preseason All-American.
» Broke the Michigan career goals record ending the 2024 campaign with 137 career goals.
» Scored a team-best 57 goals and added 14 assists to rank third for Michigan.
» Had 10 hat tricks and produced six games with five or more points.
Big Ten Preseason Poll
» Michigan was picked to finish second in the Big Ten Conference behind Northwestern, who was the unanimous pick to win the conference.
» Johns Hopkins and Maryland were picked to tie for third in league standings, while Penn State, USC, Ohio State, Rutgers and Oregon round out the conference.
Jan. 24 -- Erin O'Grady
USA Lacrosse Preseason Goalie of the Year
» Erin O'Grady comes off a stellar junior campaign in which she was named the IWLCA Goalie of the Year after leading the nation in goals against average (7.34) and ranking second in save percentage (.549).
» She was named U-M's first-ever IWLCA Goalie of the Year and Big Ten Goalie of the Year, while earning National Defensive Player of the Week honors and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors on three occasions.
» The senior goalie also was a 2024 IWLCA, Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine first-team All-America honoree and an all-region selection.
» O'Grady made 150 saves last season and became just the fifth goalie in U-M history to record 100 saves in a single season.
