
U-M to Return to Road for EMU, No. 22 Penn State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 5-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team will make the short trip to Eastern Michigan for a midweek non-conference contest Wednesday (April 3) at noon before it heads to State College, Pa., for a Big Ten Conference contest against No. 22 Penn State Saturday (April 6) at 1 p.m.
Notes
• Michigan is ranked fifth nationally in the IL Women/IWLCA poll in week nine of the season. U-M has been ranked in the top five for three straight weeks.
• As a team, the Wolverines have defeated four ranked opponents this season with its most recent ranked win over No. 15 Penn.
• Junior goalie Erin O'Grady leads the nation in goals against average allowing just 5.30 goals per game, while also being the national leader with a .649 save percentage. As a defensive unit, the Wolverines lead the nation as they give up just 5.92 goals per game and rank first with a .608 team save percentage.
• Senior Lily Montemarano ties for 25th nationally in draw controls per game with six wins per contest. As a draw control team, Michigan ranks 10th with a .608 draw control percentage.
• Junior Jill Smith is just seven goals away from tying Kim Coughlan for the most goals (124) in U-M women's lacrosse history as she currently has 117 career goals.
• Junior Kaylee Dyer is four points away from reaching 100 career points and would become just the seventh Michigan player to reach the milestone.
• Head coach Hannah Nielsen is in her seventh season at the helm of the Michigan program and has brought the team to new heights during her coaching tenure. Nielsen has led U-M to three NCAA Tournament appearances including back-to-back years in 2022 and 2023. Nielsen's squads have shattered the Michigan record book in her seven seasons, while she has also coached four players who were Tewaaraton Award nominees.
