
No. 20 Michigan, Cincinnati to Play Rescheduled Game Monday in Brighton

» No. 20 Michigan's home game against Cincinnati was moved to 11 a.m. Monday (March 4) at Legacy Center in Brighton, Michigan.
» Michigan (6-0) is out to the best start in the six-year history of the program.
» Last week the Wolverines topped back-to-back ranked opponents on the road, defeating then-No. 14 Colorado (8-6) and No. 9 Denver (12-10).
» Michigan and Cincinnati will meet for the first time in the history of the two programs.

The No. 20 University of Michigan women's lacrosse team (6-0) will take on Cincinnati at 11 a.m. Monday (March 4) at Legacy Center in Brighton, Michigan. The game was originally scheduled for Sunday (March 3) but was moved due to predicted inclement weather in the area Sunday afternoon. Admission to Monday's game is free.
Taking Down Ranked Opponents
• In the past three games, the Wolverines took on three top-25 opponents and came away with the victory in all three outings.
• The Wolverines first defeated No. 25 Dartmouth at home before hitting the road to Colorado.
• Michigan first met up with No. 14 Colorado and took an early 2-0 lead over the Buffaloes on the road. The Wolverines never relinquished the lead, despite a 2-0 run at the end for Colorado, as they earned an 8-6 victory and third-ever win over a ranked opponent.
• U-M followed it up with its second win in as many games, scoring four unanswered goals in the final six and a half minutes to lock up a 12-10 victory over No. 9 Denver.
• Michigan's first win over a ranked opponent came in the 2018 season finale, a 12-11 victory at No. 16 Penn State.
Fast Start for the Wolverines
• Michigan is 6-0 to start the 2019 season and needs just one more win to tie a program-best seven victories from the 2018 campaign.
• The Wolverines came in at No. 20 in the IWLCA Coaches Poll in week three and are No. 19 in the Inside Lacrosse Poll.
• In her second season at the helm, head coach Hannah Nielsen has already led seven Wolverines to career-best single-game performances just six games in, as Adriana Pendino (6), Chandler Kirby (4), Lilly Grass (4), Nadine Stewart (4) and Erin Daly (3) have all notched career highs in goals, while Caitlin Muir tied a career best in assists (3) three times and Mira Shane notched a career best in saves (18).
Shane Racking Up the Early Honors
• Senior goalkeeper Mira Shane earned her second straight Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season and the fifth of her career after earning a win over then-No. 14 Colorado.
• Shane was also named Brine/Inside Lacrosse Player of the Week for her efforts against the Buffaloes.
• The Princeton, New Jersey, native was one save shy of her career best, making 17 on the day, and kept Colorado to 3-for-7 on free position attempts.
• Shane added three ground balls and one caused turnover against the Buffaloes.
Individuals in the Rankings
• Through the first three weeks of the season, the Wolverines have three individuals ranked in the top 30 nationally.
• Senior goalkeeper Mira Shane ranks sixth in saves (52), eighth in save percentage (.565) and 23rd in goals against average (8.15) as she has earned the win in all six games this season and has three games with 10 or more saves.
• Sophomore Caitlin Muir is tied for fifth nationally with 12 assists while ranking 27th with 2.0 assists per game and tied for 29th with 18 points.
• Senior Adriana Pendino is tied for eighth nationally with 17 goals and tied for 20th in points with 19.
New Faces Emerging in the Michigan Offense
• Michigan has had some new faces contributing to the offense in the 2019 campaign.
• Juniors Lilly Grass and Nadine Stewart had breakout games against Central Michigan in the home opener as buried four goals each for the Wolverines in the victory.
• Grass has scored at least two goals in all but one game this season and needs just four more goals to tie her total from a year ago as she has netted 13 goals in six games.
• In week three, Stewart surpassed her season total from a year ago as she recorded her second hat trick of the season against No. 9 Denver. This year, Stewart has nine goals, besting her season total of six from the 2018 campaign.
• Also improving from a season ago is sophomore Erin Daly, who has scored in all but one game to bring her season total to eight and surpass her goal total of five from 2018.
• Caitlin Muir has been the go-to for assists as she has tallied 12 on the season with three straight three-assist outings and four multi-assist performances.
Series History with Cincinnati
• Sunday's meeting with the Bearcats will be the first in program history.
Scouting the Bearcats
• Cincinnati is 3-2 overall on the season and will meet up with Central Michigan Friday (March 1) before playing Michigan.
• The Bearcats hold a slight 73-69 scoring advantage over their opponents and are averaging 14.6 goals per game.
• Monica Borzillo has been the crux of the Cincinnati offense in the first five games of the season, leading the Bearcats in points (34), goals (22), assists (12), free position goals (6) and caused turnovers (12).
• Sam Mlkvy, Taylor Gysin and Alyssa Adams have also recorded double-digit goals this season with 10 each and have all had at least one assist.
• Mlkvy leads Cincinnati on the draw control with 29 wins.
• In goal, Guiliana Durso has started all five games, making 47 saves and giving up 63 goals for a .427 save percentage.
