MANAHAWKIN, N.J. -- The University of Michigan field hockey team placed 13 Wolverines on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I National Academic Squad, the organization announced on Wednesday (Feb. 11).
The National Academic Squad program honors undergraduate student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher through the first semester of the 2025-26 academic year. Michigan's honorees include Sofia Abraham, Eva Bernardy, Zoë Bormet, Abby Burnett, Sofia Ghanbari, Maddie Grand, Payton Maloney, Natalie Millman, Dru Moffett, Adair Patterson, Lexi Patterson, Maxine Rogge and Hala Silverstein.
Bormet, who is on track to graduate this April with a bachelor's degree in psychology, was both named to the NFHCA Academic Squad for the fourth time in her career, while on the flip side, four Wolverine freshmen garnered their first selection after a successful first semester of college.
Michigan has placed at least nine individuals on the national academic team in each of the last eight seasons. Twenty Wolverines, which included nearly every eligible student-athlete on the team, previously were honored this year with Academic All-Big Ten distinction.
The NFHCA recognized more than 1,100 undergraduate student-athletes from 82 institutions as 2025 Division I National Academic Squad honorees. The organization will announce three more Division I academic awards this spring -- the NFHCA Scholars of Distinction will be announced on Feb. 13, the NFHCA National Academic Team awards on Feb. 17, and concluding with the announcement of the National Scholar-Athlete on Feb. 19.
