
U-M Readies for Final Midweek Contest of Season Against UW-Milwaukee

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (32-19) will return home for a midweek contest against Wisconsin-Milwaukee (20-31) to kick off a four-game homestand. The game is scheduled for Tuesday (May 13) at 4 p.m. at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium, and will stream live on B1G+.
Notes
• The Wolverines are coming off a series loss to Nebraska, but are 15-5 since the second week of April. U-M lost the first two games by four combined runs and won the series finale on Sunday (May 11), 3-1.Â
• Cole Caruso led Michigan to the series finale with two home runs in the contest, his first multi-home run day of his career. He led the Wolverines in home runs but was recently surpassed by Mitch Voit. Caruso now trails Voit by one home run with 11 on the season. He is fourth on the team in batting average and OPS. Â
• Benny Casillas leads the Big Ten Conference with a .408 batting average and has reached base safely in all but two starts this season. Casillas is hitting .408 -- one of 22 players across D1 baseball above a .400 average. He is second in the conference in hits and hits per game with 75 on the season for a 1.50 average.
• Voit remains in the top 10 in the Big Ten Conference in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage, slashing .349/.481/.656. He added his 12th home run of the season last Tuesday (May 7) against Central Michigan and added a double and triple on Saturday (May 10) at Nebraska. Voit is up to 33 career home runs, tied for fourth in program history.
• Greg Pace Jr. has been the team's best hitter over the last ten games, hitting .393 with a .679 slugging percentage. Pace has seen action in all 24 games since the start of April, starting in 22 of those. Since April 1, he is 25-for-64 and holds a team-leading .506 on-base percentage. Over that span, he scored 21 runs with 17 RBIs and added seven stolen bases.
• Robert Hamchuk started at designated hitter in the series finale and went 1-for-2 with a double. Over the team's last 10 games, Hamchuk has seen seven appearances and gone 5-for-11 with four runs and four RBIs. He has played in 227 career games across six seasons, which is the fifth most among active D-1 players.
• Seventeen pitchers have seen action throughout the season, with 10 earning starts. David Lally Jr. leads U-M in innings pitched at 69.2, while Will Rogers leads the team in appearances at 21.  Â
• Wisconsin-Milwaukee holds a 20-31 record, but is 8-24 on the road. The Panthers are 0-3 against Big Ten opponents this season. Milwaukee is coming off a series sweep over Purdue Fort Wayne. All-time, Michigan is 1-1 against the Panthers and won the contest last season, 3-1, at home.
