Molly Garrett (April 22)
Tewaaraton Award Nominee -- Graduate student Molly Garrett has been named a nominee for the 2021 Tewaaraton Award for the third time in her career. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. This season, Garrett has played in two games this season in which she has scored six goals or more, posting seven against Penn State and scoring six against No. 2 Northwestern. The graduate senior has started every game she has played in. Molly Garrett, Areille Weissman (March 23)
IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week -- Graduate student Molly Garrett earned her first IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week honor following a nine-goal weekend at then-No. 7 Penn State. Garrett scored seven goals in game two (March 21) against the Nittany Lions to rank second all-time in a single game in program history. The midfielder also added two assists, six ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover to her two-game stat line against PSU. » IWLCA Release
Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week -- Senior goalie Arielle Weissman has been named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after making a total of 28 saves against Penn State. Weissman was a brick wall in the cage in game one, making a career-best 14 saves in Michigan's win over the Nittany Lions before following it up with another 14 saves in the series finale. She also had 11 ground balls on the weekend, with seven in game two against Penn State. » Big Ten Release
Molly Garrett, Caitlin Muir (March 11)
Tewaaraton Award Watch List -- Graduate student Molly Garrett and senior Caitlin Muir were named to the 2021 Tewaaraton Award Watch List, marking the third straight season for Garrett and the second straight for Muir. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. Garrett has been an integral part of the Wolverine since her freshman season. She has appeared in and started every game since her sophomore season, scoring 70 career goals and adding 172 draw control victories. Muir enters her senior season after leading Michigan with 16 goals and 11 assists in just six games in the shortened 2020 season. Big Ten Midfielder of the Week -- Molly Garrett led Michigan in game one against Rutgers on Friday (March 5), scoring four goals -- including the game-winning overtime goal to lock up Michigan's first win of the season. The graduate senior added four caused turnovers, four draw control wins and one ground ball to her two-game stats against the Scarlet Knights.
Big Ten Defender of the Week -- Kaitlyn Mead was an integral part of Michigan's success against Rutgers, leading the team with 10 draw control wins and adding three goals. The junior also had three caused turnovers and a ground ball against the Scarlet Knights.
Offensive Player of the Week -- Caitlin Muir paced the Wolverine offense against the Scarlet Knights with five goals and six assists. The senior attack posted a hat trick and added one assist on Friday (March 5) before scoring two goals and assisting on five in Sunday's (March 7) victory.
