ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Big Ten Conference-leading University of Michigan baseball team (31-11, 11-3 Big Ten) will ride an eight-game win streak into a conference series at Maryland (22-22, 8-7 Big Ten) this weekend (May 3-5). The series is set to begin Friday (May 3), with all three contests to be  streamed live on BTN Plus.
• Maryland enters the week with a 22-22 overall record and is tied for fifth place in the Big Ten with an 8-7 record in league play. To date, the Terps have picked up series wins over Illinois, Northwestern and Penn State, and are looking to make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2017.
•The Wolverines and the Terps have faced off 21 times in program history, with Michigan owning a 14-7 advantage in the all-time series with the Terrapins. The Maize and Blue took the last matchup, 6-3, in a weather-shortened eight-inning game last April. The 2018 series featured just two contests due to weather issues, and the Wolverines took home the two-game sweep.
• Michigan wrapped up a seven-game homestand last weekend (April 26-28) with a three-game Big Ten Conference sweep of Rutgers. The homestand also included a midweek victory over Bowling Green (April 17) as a well as a three-game sweep of Big Ten opponent Northwestern. The Wolverines are 19-2 when playing at home this season.Â
• Junior right-handed pitcher Karl Kauffmann earned Big Ten Pitcher of the week honors on Monday (April 29) following eight shutout innings in a win against Rutgers on Friday (April 26). Kauffmann allowed two hits and a walk while striking out five batters in his first Friday start of the season. Kauffmann lowered his ERA to 2.40 and is 7-3 on the season with one save.
• Michigan is perched atop the Big Ten Conference with an 11-3 record and leads the league with the highest overall win percentage (.738). The Wolverines have suffered just one Big Ten series loss this season after dropping two of three games at Ohio State (April 12-13), but swept Michigan State (March 29-31), Northwestern (April 20-21), and Rutgers (April 26-28) and picked up an additional series win against Minnesota (April 5-7). Michigan was picked by the league's coaches to finish second in the Big Ten this season.
• Three Wolverines are hitting above the .300 mark going into the Maryland series, including junior Jordan Brewer (.378), sophomore Jordan Nwogu (.350), and senior Blake Nelson (.339). Brewer leads the Big Ten in slugging (.685), while Nwogu ranks first in on-base percentage (.481).
• Michigan's offense leads the Big Ten in batting average (.287), on-base percentage (.386) and stolen bases (63). The Wolverines also rank in the top three among conference opponents in total hits, runs, walks, doubles, home runs, sacrifice flyouts and slugging percentage.

The Wolverines have been ranked or receiving votes in the national polls each week dating back to the preseason rankings.
• After missing four games due to injury, junior-college transfer Jordan Brewer returned to the lineup this past weekend and extended his reached-base streak to 29 games. He homered twice during the series and picked up an RBI double in the series finale.
