GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Brayden Jefferis of the University of Michigan baseball team was named one of three finalists at third base for the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove Award, the ABCA announced Monday (June 15).
Jefferis started 57 games at third base for the Wolverines and finished the year with a .974 fielding percentage, committing just four errors in 152 chances. The sophomore recorded 37 putouts and 111 assists while turning eight double plays. He also saw some action at shortstop late in games, and batted .355 with 32 runs, 76 hits and 43 RBI. Jefferis finished the season with 16.04 defensive runs saved, ranking sixth among infielders, third in the Big Ten and 12th in the NCAA. Among third basemen with 50 or more games played there, Jefferis finished third in fielding percentage and is the lone Power Four representative in the top five.
Jefferis is the second Gold Glove finalist in program history and looks to become the program's first winner since the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award was first handed out in 2007. Cole Caruso was the U-M's initial finalist, also at third base, in 2024. Three other Big Ten players are finalists for the award, two at shortstop and one outfielder. The winners will be announced on Wednesday (June 17).
