
Turner, Barr Named to All-Big Ten Teams; Two More Wolverines Earn B1G Recognition

ROSEMONT, Ill. -- Second baseman Colby Turner and starting pitcher Kurt Barr of the University of Michigan baseball team were named to All-Big Ten teams, while two others Wolverines garnered conference recognition, the Big Ten announced Tuesday (May 19).
Turner was named to the All-Big Ten first team, while Barr earned third-team honors. Shane Brinham earned All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors, and junior utility player Joonsung Park was selected as Michigan's sportsmanship honoree.
Turner leads the Wolverines in most hitting statistics, holding a slash line of .377/.443/.656 with 18 doubles and 14 home runs. He has started 53 of 54 games this season, mostly at second base but also in the outfield. The junior has 141 total bases and is the only Wolverine over 100, while adding 54 runs and 52 RBI. Turner has also added a team-leading 11 stolen bases.
Barr earns Big Ten honors for the second time in his career after being named to the third team in 2024 as a sophomore. The senior leads the Wolverines in innings pitched and strikeouts and is the only Wolverine pitcher to start every weekend. Barr has totaled a career-high 95 strikeouts this year and holds a 4.40 earned-run average and a 1.38 WHIP in 73.2 innings of work and a 5-4 record.
Brinham came on strong in the second half of the season and earned Big Ten and National Pitcher of the Week honors with a seven-inning complete game shutout against Oregon. He has compiled 56 innings this season with 50 strikeouts, and the Wolverines are 6-1 since he became a weekend starter. The freshman holds a 4.50 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP with a 5-4 record.
Park has seen action in 19 games (11 starts) this season, scoring eight runs on 11 hits with 13 RBI. The junior often came up clutch, with five game-winning runs and four game-winning hits across his appearances this season. Park has five doubles and one home run while slashing .234/.357/.404.
