NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. -- Sophomore Jill Smith of the University of Michigan women's lacrosse team was named a second team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association as announced by the organization Thursday (May 25).
She becomes just the second Wolverine in program history to earn an IWLCA honor after Arielle Weissman notched third-team honors in 2022.
Smith, a 2023 Tewaaraton Award nominee, adds the IWLCA honor to her long list of accolades this season. Smith also was named Inside Lacrosse All-America third team, USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American honorable mention, IWLCA West/Midwest All-Region first team and first team All-Big Ten.
This season, Smith set the single-season points (77) and goals (65) records, while ranking third on the Wolverines with 46 draw-control wins. The Farmington Hills, Mich., native produced 16 multi-goal games with 14 of them hat tricks.
