
U-M Remains Unbeaten in B1G Play with Scoreless Draw at OSU

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In a hard-fought, gritty match on Friday night (Oct. 6) at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium, the University of Michigan men's soccer team secured a 0-0 tie in road action against the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Wolverines (2-3-6, 1-0-4 B1G) remain unbeaten in Big Ten play with their fourth tie of the 2023 conference slate. Michigan also earned its second shutout in conference action as well as the second of Isaiah Goldson's career.
Goldson made three saves for the Maize and Blue in net, while Will Baker tested the keeper with a header in the box off a free kick for Michigan's lone shot on goal.
The Wolverines earned a corner kick in the 24th minute as a header from Alex Waggoner went just wide of the left goal post before Michigan's defense came up big in the 32nd minute of play and blocked back-to-back shots to kept the match scoreless. Goldson made two saves between the pipes in the final 13 minutes of the first half and the game remained deadlocked at 0-0 going into the halftime break.
Nolan Miller made a massive play inside the 18-yard box with a slide tackle that was originally called for a foul in the box but was overturned and allowed Michigan to take the goal kick in the 78th minute of play.
Michigan and Ohio State (3-4-4, 1-2-1 B1G) held each other off in the remaining 10 minutes of action as U-M earned its fourth shutout in conference play.
The Wolverines take on Michigan State for the Big Bear Trophy on Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 7 p.m. Tickets for the game are sold out but fans can catch all the action live on Big Ten Network.
