Lora Clarke (Oct. 17)
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week -- Junior Lora Clarke led the Wolverines with two goals -- both on fourth-quarter rebounds -- and an assist in their weekend sweep against Indiana and No. 5 Iowa. Clarke, who also assisted on U-M's first and game-winning goal against the Hoosiers, has scored in five consecutive games and shares the team lead with a career-best nine goals. It is her Big Ten offensive weekly honor; she previously earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week recognition in 2020-21. » Big Ten Release
Pilar Oliveros (Oct. 17)
Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week -- Junior Pilar Oliveros, the Wolverines' center back, spearheaded a defensive unit that held the opposition to just six total shots -- three per game -- and three corners en route to back-to-back shutouts against Indiana and No. 5 Iowa at home last weekend. Oliveros also added a goal and an assist on the attack corner against the Hoosiers. It is the first weekly honor of her career. » Big Ten Release
Katie Anderson, Kathryn Peterson, Abby Tamer (Aug. 24)
Big Ten Players to Watch -- Fifth-year seniors Katie Anderson and Kathryn Peterson and sophomore Abby Tamer were named Michigan's representatives on the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch list.
Peterson is a two-time NFHCA third team All-American in the Wolverine midfield and owns 18 career goals and 22 assists as one of the primary inserters on Michigan's attack corner. Anderson, also a midfielder, has twice earned NFHCA All-West Region second team honors and boasts eight goals and 12 assists over the last four years -- and netted the shootout clincher in U-M's NCAA semifinal win over Louisville in spring of 2021.
Tamer moves to the forward line this season after appearing in 19 games with nine starts and posted four goals and five assists as a rookie last season. Tamer, along with Peterson, contributed to Team USA's bronze-medal finish at the Junior Pan American Championship last fall. » Big Ten Release
NFHCA Preseason Poll (Aug. 23)
The Wolverines will open the 2022 season with the No. 3 national ranking, announced by the National Field Hockey Association. Michigan has remained top three in the NFHCA poll since April 13, 2021, during the COVID-19-aletered spring season. Five Big Ten teams make up the top 10, including No. 1 Northwestern, No. 4 Maryland and No. 5 Iowa, while seven teams appear in the top 25. » NFHCA Coaches Poll
