ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan field hockey team (6-9, 1-6 Big Ten) will close out the regular season against rival Ohio State (6-10, 1-6 Big Ten) at 5 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 30) at Phyllis Ocker Field. The game will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• The Maize and Blue is tied with Ohio State for seventh place in the conference standings with a 1-6 league record. The winner of Friday's matchup is set to claim the No. 7 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
• Natalie Millman scored U-M's lone goal against Miami (Ohio) last weekend (Oct. 25), tying Esmée de Willigen for the team lead with five goals apiece this season. Now in her fourth year, Millman has nearly doubled her previous career goal total, having scored six goals across her first three seasons.
• Juliette Manzur and de Willigen pace the Wolverines with 11 points each, a career-best mark for de Willigen, who recorded a hat trick against Vermont earlier this season.
• U-M is 4-2 against unranked opponents this season, with two of those victories coming at home.
• Ohio State enters the weekend 6-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Sienna Golden leads the team in goals (eight) and points (17) and has scored all four of the Buckeyes' game-winning goals this season. Goalkeeper Avery Alleva owns a 1.86 goals-against average with 47 saves. The Buckeyes enter Friday's matchup on a two-game winning streak, coming off wins over Michigan State and Kent State.
• Michigan leads the all-time series against Ohio State, 44-28-2, and has won 14 of the last 16 matchups. The Wolverines will look to avenge last season's 1-0 loss in Columbus and snap their three-game losing streak with a rivalry win over the Buckeyes in Friday's regular-season finale.
• After the game, the Wolverines will honor their senior class, consisting of Zoë Bormet, de Willigen, Payton Maloney, Manzur and Millman. Over the last five years, the group has contributed to two Big Ten Tournament titles, two NCAA Tournament appearances and more than 55 wins during their time at Michigan.
