INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's lacrosse team claimed its second-ever NCAA Tournament bid and will travel to Evanston, Ill. for the first round of the tournament, the NCAA announced Sunday (May 8).
U-M will play Notre Dame on Friday (May 13) in the first round. The winner will advance to the second round on Sunday (May 15) and face the winner of No. 4-seeded Northwestern and Central Michigan. Game times have yet to be announced.
Michigan and Notre Dame met earlier this year with the Wolverines claiming an 11-7 victory in South Bend in the Wolverines' second game of the season. Prior to the win, U-M had lost to the Fighting Irish in three previous meetings.
Michigan is making its second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance as it hosted the first and second rounds during the 2019 season. U-M posted a 10-6 overall record in the 2022 regular season with wins over then-No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 18 Johns Hopkins.
In addition to Michigan, four other Big Ten schools were selected to the field of 29, including Johns Hopkins, Maryland, Northwestern and Rutgers.
