Evan Rasmussen (Oct. 5)
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week -- For the second straight time, the University of Michigan men's soccer team earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors as junior Evan Rasmussen grabbed the award this week. Rasmussen was an integral part of the Wolverines' 2-1 comeback overtime victory against perennial powerhouse Indiana on Friday (Oct. 1). The junior forward scored the game-tying goal on a diving header in the 81st minute of the match before going on to assist on Derick Broche's game-winning overtime goal. Joel Harrison (Sept. 30)
Senior CLASS Award Candidate -- Graduate student Joel Harrison was named one of 30 candidates for the 2021 Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Harrison returned for a fifth season with the Wolverines after being a first team All-Big Ten honoree in spring 2021. The graduate defender has appeared in 36 career games with 26 starts on the back line and is currently out due to injury. » Senior CLASS Award Release
Kevin Buca (Sept. 28)
Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week -- Senior Kevin Buca was named the Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the week ended Sept. 26. Buca lifted the Wolverines past Northwestern on Sunday (Sept. 26), scoring all three Michigan goals in a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats. Buca's hat trick was U-M's first since Francis Atuahene on Sept. 4, 2015. A senior midfielder, Buca played 61 minutes against NU and scored on all three of his shot opportunities. Marc Ybarra, Bryce Blevins, Quin Rogers (Aug. 23)
Big Ten Players to Watch -- Fifth-year senior Marc Ybarra and sophomores Bryce Blevins and Quin Rogers were named Big Ten Players to Watch.
Ybarra returns as the reigning Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, a first team All-Big Ten honoree and a Senior CLASS Award finalist. He started all 11 matches last season, leading the Wolverines in scoring with 10 points, including four goals and a team-high six assists. Ybarra has played in 73 career matches with 72 starts, scoring six goals and adding 22 assists for 34 career points.
Blevins enters his sophomore campaign in 2021, after appearing in all 11 matches in the spring season and starting seven for the Maize and Blue. He tied for second on the team with three goals, including to game-winners, and had a .438 shots-on-goal percentage with seven testing the keeper, earning him Big Ten All-Freshman team honors.
Rogers enters his sophomore season after starting all 11 matches as a freshman and earning Big Ten All-Freshman team honors. He was an integral part of the midfield, putting six shots on goal and seeing 945 minutes of action on the pitch.
Big Ten Preseason Poll -- Michigan was picked to finish third in the conference's preseason poll, selected by B1G coaches. U-M trailed Indiana and Penn State, a season after advancing to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals and making an NCAA Third Round appearance in 2019.
