The Wolverines will make their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Erik Bakich and 25th overall. The at-large selection is Michigan's third since 2017. The Wolverines also advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2015 by way of winning the Big Ten Tournament, which serves as an automatic qualifier.
In U-M's most recent NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019, Michigan advanced to the Championship Series against Vanderbilt, eventually losing in the final game of the best-of-three series to finish as national runner-up.
Michigan owns an all-time NCAA Tournament record of 61-47 (.565), including a 52-34 (.605) mark during regional play. The Wolverines have advanced to the College World Series eight times, most recently in 2019, and won national titles in 1953 and 1962.
The 16 regional champions will advance to the best-of-three super regionals June 11-13 or 12-14. The eight super regional winners will advance to the Men's College World Series, scheduled for June 19-29/30 in Omaha, Neb.
