ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's lacrosse head coach Hannah Nielsen announced Tuesday (July 16) the addition of sophomore transfer Kaley Thompson to the 2020 lacrosse squad.
"I am excited to welcome Kaley into our program," said Nielsen. "Her numbers and stats in her freshman year at Elon are definitely impressive, but I think more so her personality and her drive as an athlete are traits that really set her apart in the recruiting process. I am looking forward to having her as a part of the team this fall."
Thompson comes to Michigan after playing one season at Elon University where she started 16 of the team's 17 games and earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Year honors. In her first collegiate season, Thompson totaled 40 points (33 goals, seven assists) and had a team-best 61 draw controls.
The 5-foot-7-inch midfielder set a single-game program record with her eight points against Winthrop before her goal against No. 23-ranked High Point was featured as the No. 1 play on SportCenter's Top 10 plays on March 27.
Thompson ended the season as the CAA Rookie of the Year, and earned two CAA Rookie of the Week honors and a spot on the CAA All-Rookie Team.
