Molly Garrett (May 1)
Big Ten Co-Player of the Week -- Sophomore Molly Garrett earned Michigan's first Big Ten Player of the Week honor, which she shared with Maryland junior Jen Giles. In U-M's historic last-second upset of 16th-ranked Penn State on Saturday (April 28), the Winter Springs, Florida, native led all players with four goals (on four shots) and two assists. Her last assist came as part of a frantic and unlikely comeback in a game that U-M trailed 11-10 with 28 seconds remaining. With PSU in possession of the ball and leading, Garrett forced a turnover near midfield, scooped up the ground ball and made a crisp pass to Catherine Granito, whose timely goal tied the game with six seconds remaining. U-M then won the draw control and scored as time expired to give the Wolverines their first victory over Penn State. Garrett finished the game with two caused turnovers, two draw controls and two ground balls in an impressive individual performance.
Maggie Kane (Feb. 27)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman Maggie Kane earned Michigan's first Big Ten weekly award this season, being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. In U-M's near upset of 10th-ranked Navy on Sunday (Feb. 25), the Caledonia, Michigan, native scored on three of her four shots taken, including a 1-for-1 mark on free-position attempts, scoring a career-high three goals. She helped Michigan hold a lead over Navy for 52 minutes of the game until Navy tied the game and eventually scored the game-winning goal with under two minutes remaining. Kane also added two draw controls, one ground ball and one caused turnover. She ranks ninth in the Big Ten, averaging 3.6 draw controls per game as a freshman this season.
Bianca Brueckner (Jan. 29)
Big Ten Preseason Honors List -- Graduate student Bianca Brueckner is Michigan's top returning scorer from last season. The Weston, Massachusetts, native missed eight games due to injury a year ago and recorded nine goals and three assists in the final nine games of the season upon her return. Fully healthy for the 2018 season, Brueckner looks to be the experienced leader for the Wolverine attack. Brueckner, who is a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, earned her bachelor's degree in communication studies in April 2017, and is now enrolled in the Ross School of Business, pursuing a master's degree in management.
Adriana Pendino (Jan. 29)
Big Ten Preseason Honors List -- Junior Adriana Pendino saw time in 13 games a season ago, tallying eight goals and one assist. The departure of several key seniors from last year's lineup gives the explosive attacker an opportunity to make an immediate impact on the offensive end in 2018. The sport management major earned Academic All-Big Ten honors last season.
Molly Garrett (Jan. 29)
Big Ten Preseason Honors List -- Sophomore Molly Garrett is Michigan's most experienced returner in the midfield, as she played in 14 games with nine starts in her rookie season. Garrett scored four goals and hauled in 18 draw controls a year ago. In addition to her statistical impact, Garrett is known for making hustle plays all over the field. She will also lead a young and talented group on the draw.
