GRAND LAKE, Colo. -- Senior Kim Coughlan of the University of Michigan women's lacrosse team will get one more opportunity to lace up her cleats, as she was selected to participate in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Senior All-Star Game, the coaches association announced today (Friday, May 26).
The game will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. at Tierney Field at US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. The Division II (12:45 p.m.) and Division III (2 p.m.) all-star games will follow. Admission for all three games is free of charge and will be streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com.
As a member of the first graduating class from the U-M women's lacrosse program, Coughlan is the first Wolverine to represent Michigan in the all-star game. She will play for the Division I North team, which will be coached by Penn State head coach Missy Doherty.
Coughlan, a dynamic attacker from Port Jefferson, New York, lead the Wolverines with 36 goals this season. She finished her career as Michigan's all-time leader in career goals with 124. In U-M's game against Rutgers, she set a program record with eight goals, which is the most by any Big Ten player this season and tied for third in the NCAA. Coughlan was instrumental as Michigan's primary draw specialist, helping the Wolverines rank third in the Big Ten, averaging 14.4 draw controls per game. Individually, she finished her career second all-time at Michigan with 107 career draw controls, including 35 from the 2017 season.
Coughlan, who graduated with a degree in general studies at the end of April, will continue her education at Michigan, pursuing a master's degree in education studies from the Rackham Graduate School.
