Sophomore Kim Coughlan discusses the team's win over Cal and their improved confidence, as well as the team's trip to San Francisco, including a bike ride over the Golden Gate Bridge and ferry ride to Alcatraz.
On the importance of starting the trip with a win over Cal ... "It was great getting a win and I think it brought our team a lot closer. It made everyone more excited to be here and it was a great start to our spring break."
On the team's improved confidence ... "We had a rough start to the season, but after our second straight win, it's really increased our confidence. It's made everyone trust each other a lot more on the field and I think we've bonded more as a team because of that win against Cal."
On biking across the Golden Gate Bridge as a team ... "It was definitely a great experience. A lot of us have never been to California, have never been able to see the Golden Gate Bridge, but I think most of all it was really cool to be able to do that with our whole team and experience everything with each other."
On the team's ability to travel for spring break and spend a week in California ... "We all appreciate what we have here at Michigan and are grateful for our coaches and the athletic department for what they've given us. We're just trying to continue to work hard to show that we deserve to be here and are making the most of this experience."
On team bonding on spring break ... "We've definitely gotten a lot closer this break. We've been doing a lot of team bonding activities and at night we've been getting together and playing a lot of games and we've been able to learn a lot about each other and about everyone's character. And I think it's starting to show on the field, especially after that win at Cal, I think it really helped our confidence and is helping us come together. I think everyone is trusting each other a lot more and you can see that out on the field."
On preparing to play the last game of spring break at St. Mary's ... "We're definitely focused on tomorrow's game. The win at Cal helped our confidence a lot and I think we're going to come out even stronger and even more excited to play more lacrosse. I think our strong point on Tuesday was the trust that we had in each other and the positivity that showed on the field. We never got down on each other even when they scored -- we always stayed positive and continued to cheer each other on."
