2016 U-M Women's Lacrosse Schedule | Ticket Information
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's lacrosse head coach Jennifer Ulehla announced today (Thursday, Nov. 19) the schedule for the team's third season as a varsity program. The Wolverines will play 11 of 17 regular-season games at home, including three of their five Big Ten Conference matchups.
The Maize and Blue will open the 2015 season at home against first-year program Central Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 7, inside Oosterbaan Field House. With the addition of CMU, there are now three Division I women's lacrosse programs in the state of Michigan (Michigan, Central Michigan, Detroit).
For the third straight season, U-M will make the trip to Florida to face the Gators on Saturday, Feb. 13.
Following three more home games at Oosterbaan (Oregon, Marquette, Canisius), the Wolverines will head to California for the second straight year for their 2016 spring trip. This year's trip will take U-M to San Diego to face San Diego State (March 1) and Southern Cal (March 4).
Following their spring trip and a first-time visit to High Point (March 13), the Wolverines will open play inside Michigan Stadium with four consecutive home games. The fourth and final game of that homestand will mark the start of Big Ten play, as U-M will welcome Ohio State to the Big House. The exact date and time of that matchup is still to be determined.
The remainder of U-M's conference lineup includes home games against Penn State (April 17) and Maryland (April 23), as well as road tilts at Northwestern (April 7) and Rutgers (April 30).
Overall, the Wolverines will face seven teams that advanced to the 2015 NCAA Tournament. That list includes four teams from the Big Ten -- Maryland, Northwestern, Ohio State and Penn State -- as well as Florida, Massachusetts and USC.
The second Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Tournament will be hosted by Northwestern from May 5-8 in Evanston, Illinois. All six Big Ten teams qualify for the conference tournament, and the winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Tournament will begin on May 13 and conclude with the semifinals and national championship game on May 27 and 29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
