Fox, Hillman Receive First Team All-Conference Honors

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Two University of Michigan field hockey players were named to the All-Big Ten Conference first team, announced Thursday night (Nov. 3) at the Big Ten Tournament banquet. Senior midfielder Lori Hillman (Gibbsboro, N.J./Eastern Regional HS) is a repeat selection on the All-Big Ten first team, while junior midfielder Mary Fox (St. Louis, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) made the first team in 2005 after earning second-team honors a year ago. Hillman is also Michigan's recipient of the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
Hillman, who was the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2004 and the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2002, had one goal, five assists and a team-high three defensive saves during the regular season. She missed four U-M games while representing the United States at the Junior World Cup Sept. 14-25 in Santiago, Chile.
Fox, a starter in all 15 games in which she has appeared, has scored three goals and is tied for the team lead with six assists despite missing four games due to injury.
The 10th-ranked Wolverines will open Big Ten Tournament action Friday (Nov. 4) with a first-round contest against No. 11 Iowa, the tournament host. The game is scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. CST start at Grant Field in Iowa City, Iowa.
