ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (6-4, 2-0 Big Ten) will look to win its third straight conference contest on Sunday (April 6) at noon against No. 10 Penn State (6-3, 0-2 Big Ten) inside U-M Lacrosse Stadium. The ranked matchup will air live on Big Ten Network.
Notes
• The top-15 clash will be played in front of a sold out crowd at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium, the second sellout of the season. It will mark the first time in program history Michigan men's lacrosse has sold out two games in the same year.Â
• The Wolverines will face their seventh ranked opponent of the season in No. 10 Penn State, their fifth straight ranked foe. U-M is slotted 13th in this week's USILA Coaches Poll, its highest ranking of the season, and has played the ninth-toughest schedule in the country this year.
• Senior Ryan Cohen continues to etch his name in the Michigan lacrosse record books after becoming the third player to hit the 100-goal mark and the third Wolverine to record 200 career points. The 2025 Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree is 23 tallies away from tying the program record for points in a career.
• Cohen, the program leader for career assists, is second in the Big Ten with 33 points and first in the conference, totaling 21 helpers through 10 games. His 2.1 apples per game ranks first in the Big Ten and 18th in the country.
• Sophomore Alex Lobel tallied a first-half hat trick in his first career start against No. 14 Johns Hopkins last weekend.
• U-M boasts three players in the top 10 for caused turnovers in the Big Ten. Junior Mason Whitney leads the trio in fourth with 15, followed by graduate student Pace Billings in sixth (14) and senior Kees van Wees, who is tied for seventh (13).
• The U-M defense has caused 100 turnovers so far, the second most in the Big Ten and eighth most in the NCAA, and helped the Wolverines earn the second spot in the Inside Lacrosse midseason defensive efficiency ratings.
• Michigan earned its first 2-0 start to conference play last week, defeating No. 14 Johns Hopkins after beating No. 1 Maryland to begin its Big Ten slate. The Wolverines are seeking their first three-game win streak against ranked opponents since 2023, when they took down No. 4 Penn State, No. 7 Maryland and No. 6 Cornell from May 4-14.
• The Maize and Blue rounds out its regular-season road schedule next weekend against Rutgers on Sunday, April 13, before closing the regular season at home on April 19 with a 4 p.m. matchup against Ohio State.
