ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's lacrosse team (4-4) will hit the road for its Big Ten opener at noon on Saturday (March 22), facing No. 1-ranked Maryland (7-0) at SECU Stadium in College Park, Md. The matchup marks Michigan's third straight contest against a ranked opponent.
Notes
• Michigan will face off against its fifth ranked opponent of the season in No. 1 Maryland.
• The top-ranked Terrapins are the highest-ranked team the Wolverines will face since a meeting with No. 1 Duke in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
• Ryan Cohen sits just one score away from 100 career goals as he looks to join Michael Boehm and Brent Noseworthy as the only Wolverines to accomplish the feat. The 2025 Tewaaraton Award Watch List honoree is also just the third Michigan player to record 200 career points.
• Sophomore Nick Roode has been the catalyst for the U-M offense over the last three games, leading the team with nine goals and 13 points in that span. He is one of six Wolverines riding point streaks into the weekend, including Cohen, who has tallied a point in each of his 56 career games played.
• Two Wolverines sit in the top four for most assists in the Big Ten so far this season. Cohen, who has the second-most points in the league, is first with 18 helpers, while sophomore Jack Jenkins is tied for fourth with 11.
• Junior Mason Whitney has caused a turnover in all but two contests this season, including a career-high five against Harvard. He enters the weekend third in the Big Ten with 14 caused turnovers on the season.
• Michigan is second in the conference and sixth in the country with 83 caused turnovers in 2025. The Wolverines cause 10.38 turnovers per game, the 10th-best mark in the nation, led by Whitney, who has the 15th-most caused turnovers in Division I.
• U-M has claimed a win in each of its last three contests against Maryland, outscoring the Terrapins 42-27 in that span, including a 14-5 triumph in the 2023 Big Ten title game.
