
Michigan Ends Regular Season with Scoreless Draw at Penn State

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team ended its regular season with a scoreless draw against Penn State on Friday night (Nov. 7) at Jeffrey Field.
Michigan held a 15-7 edge in shots while tallying three shots on target. Isaiah Goldson kept an opponent off the scoreboard for the eighth time this season. Mitar Mitrovic paced the Wolverines with three shots, two on frame.
Michigan (11-2-4, 6-2-2 Big Ten) controlled the tempo of the match from the outset and began to apply pressure with a Mitrovic shot that was on target in the 22nd minute of action.
Nicholas Cassiday fired another shot toward the Penn State net in the 25th minute, but the Nittany Lions' keeper kept the ball out of the goal and the game scoreless.
The two teams continued to battle, but neither could find the breakthrough as the halftime whistle sounded.
U-M came out of the locker room with momentum and added a few more shots to the tally, but Penn State (5-8-4, 1-6-3 Big Ten) held on to keep the Wolverines at bay.
As the match ended, the Maize and Blue consistently possessed the ball in the attacking third, but the buildup did not lead to a finish as the contest ended in a scoreless draw.
Michigan will head to Ludwig Field in College Park, Md., as the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten Tournament. The Wolverines will take on No 2. seed Washington at 4 p.m. on Wednesday (Nov. 12), and the match will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
