ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 14-ranked University of Michigan field hockey team (8-6, 3-4 Big Ten) will host No. 17 Indiana (9-7, 4-3 Big Ten) for its regular-season finale at 5 p.m. Friday (Oct. 31) at Phyllis Ocker Field.
After the game, the Wolverines will honor their four-member senior class, consisting of graduate students Caylie McMahon, Abby Tamer and Claire Taylor and fifth-year senior Emmy Tran, who contributed to a pair of Big Ten Conference Tournament titles, three NCAA Tournament appearances and more than 60 wins over their five seasons at Michigan.
Notes
• The Wolverines are tied for fifth place -- with Ohio State and Rutgers -- in the Big Ten standings with their 3-4 league record. With a win on Friday, Michigan could move to as high as third place.
• Tamer leads the Wolverines with seven goals, including Michigan's second tally against both Penn State (Oct. 3) and Rutgers (Oct. 5), and 16 points. Tamer, a 2024 first team All-American, led U-M in scoring last season with 12 goals, 14 assists and 38 points. Tamer has nine game-winning goals over her Michigan career; in addition to the three this season, she also tallied the game-winner in the Wolverines' comeback win against Wake Forest last season.
• Junior Juliette Manzur suffered a season-ending injury in the Wolverines' game at Ohio State (Oct. 12). Manzur tied her career highs in goals (five) and assists (five) and still ranks second on the team with a career-best 15 points. Of her goals this season, she scored U-M's game-tying marker with time expired in the third quarter against Rutgers and the game-tying goal in the fourth quarter against Wake Forest -- and contributed the Wolverines' first goal in their 3-2 comeback win at Stanford.
• Sophomore Eva Bernardy tallied Michigan's game-tying goal early in the third quarter at No. 2 Northwestern last Friday (Oct. 24) to up her total to a career-best four on the season.
• Junior/sophomore goalkeeper Hala Silverstein ranks sixth nationally and second in the Big Ten with her .800 save percentage and is 13th nationally and third in the Big Ten with a 1.00 goals-against average. Overall, Michigan carries a 1.36 GAA, while its defensive corps has allowed just 9.1 shots and 4.1 corners per game this season.
• Michigan has held opponents to just five goals off penalty corners this season -- one apiece against North Carolina, Stanford, Ohio State, Northwestern and Iowa -- and a scant conversion rate of 8.8 percent (5-for-57).
• Indiana is 9-7 on the season and 4-3 in Big Ten play after earning wins over Ohio State (2-1 OT, Oct. 24) and Michigan State (5-0, Oct. 26). The Hoosiers have won each of their last four conference games, which also includes a 2-1 shootout win against Maryland on Oct. 17. Inés Garcia Prado leads IU in scoring with seven goals and nine assists, while Mijntje Hagen owns six goals and 10 assists. Goalkeeper Sadie Canelli carries a 1.86 goals-against average and .662 save percentage.
• Michigan leads 24-9 in the all-time series against Indiana and split a pair of games last season, with IU winning 2-1 in the regular season and Michigan claiming a 2-1 overtime win in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.
