ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team (6-7-3, 3-3-3 Big Ten) plays its final away match of the regular season on Sunday (Oct. 19) against Rutgers (3-7-4, 1-7-1 Big Ten) at Yurchak Field in Piscataway, N.J. The 1 p.m. fixture is set to be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan holds a 4-6-2 record in the all-time series against Rutgers. The last four meetings have been split, with the Wolverines on a two-match losing skid.
• Four points from senior captain Jenna Lang helped Michigan withstand three unanswered goals from Maryland in the second half of a 4-3 win on Thursday night (Oct. 16). Gabrielle Prych added her second game of the season with three points or more, while Elle Ervin also contributed her sixth score of 2025 in the win.
• Michigan's 12 league points are good for a 10th-place tie in the Big Ten standings with two matches to play. U-M could climb as high as seventh with a win against Rutgers and losses from Penn State, Ohio State and Northwestern, or drop as low as 12th with a loss against the Scarlet Knights. The top 10 teams in the conference standings will qualify for the Big Ten Tournament.
• The Wolverines will face Rutgers, which sits 17th in the conference standings with four points, and Illinois, which sits in sixth place with 16 points, looking to break a tie with USC and Nebraska.
• The Ervin-Prych duo has combined for 12 goals so far this season, the fourth-most from a forward pair in the Big Ten. Ervin's six goals are also the most by a U-M sophomore since Meredith Haakenson scored nine in 2019.
• Sophie Homan ranks seventh in the conference with 56 saves and has logged four clean sheets on the year. She is tied for the most Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week awards in 2025 with two.
• Lang heads to New Jersey on a two-game point streak, having logged a tally in four of her last six outings. She leads the team with eight points in Big Ten play, ninth most in the conference over that span. Her four assists in Big Ten matches are also tied for the third most among conference field players.
• Michigan will close the regular season with a match against Illinois at 1 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 26) at U-M Soccer Stadium. The final game of the 2025 slate includes a familiar face with Illinois head coach Katie Hultin returning to Ann Arbor after serving as an assistant at U-M under Jennifer Klein from 2018-21.
