BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Three different Wolverines found the back of the net as the University of Michigan women's soccer team earned a 3-2 road victory over Indiana on Sunday (Oct. 4) at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
Michigan (5-3-3, 3-3-0 Big Ten) broke a 1-1 tie with second-half goals from Adi Walick and Lilley Bosley, then held off a late Indiana (4-7-1, 1-5-0 Big Ten) push to secure the win.
The Wolverines opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Ella Jablinskey finished a chance created by Campbell Jewell, giving U-M a 1-0 lead. The goal was Jablinskey's fifth of the season and sent U-M into halftime in front.
Indiana equalized in the 53rd minute, but Michigan responded just over 10 minutes later. After the Hoosiers were called for a foul in the penalty area, Walick converted from the spot in the 64th minute to restore the Wolverines' lead at 2-1. She improved to a perfect 4-for-4 on penalty kicks this season.
Michigan added an insurance goal in the 73rd minute. Jewell's shot struck the woodwork, and Bosley pounced on the rebound for her first goal of the season, extending the advantage to 3-1. The tally ultimately stood as the game-winner.
Indiana pulled within one in the 85th minute, but the Wolverines managed the closing minutes to preserve the 3-2 victory.
U-M finished with a 16-12 advantage in shots, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal, and generated nine corner kicks to Indiana's four. Goalkeeper Malia Zillman played all 90 minutes and made one save.
Michigan will continue its road swing Thursday (Oct. 8) with a 7 p.m. matchup at Purdue..
