ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team fell 3-1 to Ohio State on Friday (Oct. 30) at U-M Soccer Stadium in its regular-season finale.
Lilley Bosley scored U-M's lone goal, tying the program record with a point in seven consecutive matches.
Michigan (7-5-5, 5-5-2 Big Ten) generated an early opportunity when Ellie Fife put a shot on target in the fifth minute. After Ohio State (15-1-1, 11-1-0 Big Ten) took a 2-0 lead, Bosley responded just 24 seconds later, finding the back of the net in the 21st minute off assists from Campbell Jewell and Elle Ervin.
Bosley's sixth goal of the season made her the third Wolverine in program history to score in seven straight matches, and the first since Nkem Ezurike in 2012.
The Wolverines kept the pressure on, with Bosley and Brooklyn Marn each recording shots on goal before halftime. Michigan entered the break trailing 2-1 despite matching Ohio State with five first-half shots.
U-M earned back-to-back corner kicks early in the second half, but OSU converted a penalty kick in the 61st minute to extend its lead to 3-1. The Wolverines recorded four shots in the final 17 minutes but were unable to cut into the deficit.
U-M finished with a 10-9 advantage in shots and matched Ohio State with four corner kicks. Goalkeeper Malia Zillman made four saves.
With the regular season concluding, the Wolverines have earned a spot in the Big Ten Tournament, with the first two rounds set to be hosted in St. Louis, Mo. Michigan will face Ohio State once again on Wednesday (Nov. 4) at 4 p.m. CT, with the match streamed live on B1G+.
