
Michigan to Head to Arkansas for Wooo Pig Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team (1-2) heads to Fayetteville, Ark., for the Wooo Pig Invitational on Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 2-3) at Arkansas' Barnhill Arena. The Wolverines will face off against Colorado State (1-2) on Saturday (Sept. 2) at 2 p.m. CDT, then take on the host No. 21 Razorbacks (2-0) on Sunday (Sept. 3) at 11 a.m. CDT. Sunday's game will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
Notes
• U-M is 1-2 on the season with a win over Sacred Heart and losses to Boston College and Western Michigan. The Wolverines swept Sacred Heart on Saturday (Aug. 26), which was the first win under head coach Erin Virtue.
• Coach Virtue will not be with the team this weekend as she will be in Quebec as an assistant coach for Team USA. Associate head coach Benavia Jenkins will serve as the acting head coach. Virtue will be back with the team for next weekend's home matches against North Carolina and Duke.
• Jacque Boney is leading the way for the Wolverines offense with 26 kills and 2.89 kills per set. Boney also is leading the team in blocks with nine total (three solo, six assists). In her college career, Boney has started every match for Michigan, playing in 63 total and averaging 1.58 kills per set and 1.1 blocks per set over her career.
• Second on the team in kills so far this season is Kendall Murray with 20. Murray is averaging 2.22 kills per set, almost a full point higher than her career average of 1.28. She had a season-high in points against Western Michigan with nine. Murray had eight kills in the match with a solo block and 11 digs.
• Freshmen Lydia Johnson and Valentina Vaulet have had impressive starts to their time at Michigan. Johnson had seven kills, seven aces and five block assists in her season debut against Sacred Heart. She followed it up with five kills and three block assists against Western Michigan. Vaulet is third on the team in kills (18) with a high of 10 against Sacred Heart.
• Another freshman has taken a step up with Morgan Burke playing the final two sets against Western Michigan. Burke registered 21 assists in the match in just two sets and added eight digs. She made her debut against Sacred Heart and tallied two assists in the match.
• Scottee Johnson has started all three matches on the season and registered 66 assists. Johnson now sits at 2,000 career assists to become just the ninth player in program history to reach the mark. She is 139 assists from moving into eighth place all-time.
• Serena Nyambio had a strong game against Western Michigan with seven kills and one block assist. Nyambio added six kills total in the prior two matches to start the season and five total blocks against the Eagles and Pioneers.
• In program history, Michigan has faced Colorado State five times and Arkansas six times. Against the Rams, U-M holds a 3-2 series lead, having taken the most-recent match (Sept. 8, 2018) and are 1-1 in neutral site matches. Michigan is 5-1 against the Razorbacks but lost its last match vs. Arkansas (3-2) in 2014.
