
Wolverines Return Home to Host Iowa, No. 13 Oregon in Pink and Pride Matches

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team (10-5, 1-3 Big Ten) returns home after two matches in California for a two-match homestand at Crisler Center. The Wolverines will host Iowa (12-6, 1-3 Big Ten) on Friday (Oct. 9) at 7 p.m. before facing No. 13-ranked Oregon (12-2, 3-1 Big Ten) on Saturday (Oct. 10) at 7 p.m. Both matches will stream live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan earned its first conference win of the season with a four-set victory over USC on Oct. 2 before falling in three sets to UCLA the following day. The Wolverines opened Big Ten play with losses to Penn State and Washington, both of which are ranked in the coaches poll. U-M is 9-2 in nonconference play and ranks 40th in the RPI.
• The Wolverine offense has been one of the nation's most efficient and productive this season, ranking fourth in the NCAA in assists per set, 11th in kills per set and 26th in hitting percentage. U-M leads the Big Ten in assists per set while ranking second in kills per set and seventh in hitting percentage. Michigan has recorded 756 kills on 715 assists while hitting .269 this season.
• Ella Demetrician leads the Wolverines and ranks second in the Big Ten in kills per set. The junior has recorded 229 kills and is averaging 4.32 kills per set, good for 18th nationally. Demetrician has improved her kills-per-set average by 1.5 from last season and her digs-per-set average by 0.50, totaling 130 digs this season.
• Meredith Martin leads the Big Ten in digs and digs per set while ranking 43rd nationally and fourth among NCAA freshmen. Martin has recorded 235 digs with double-digit totals in 13 of 15 matches, including all four Big Ten contests. The freshman recorded a career-high 29 digs in a four-set match against Penn State and has added 59 assists, six aces and three kills.
• Morgan Burke has recorded 368 assists this season, reaching double figures in every match and 20 or more in 13 of 15 contests. Burke has appeared in 101 career matches and totaled 2,815 assists, putting her on pace to become the seventh Wolverine in program history to reach 3,000 career assists. She also leads the team with 22 aces and ranks third with 105 digs.
• Cymarah Gordon ranks second on the team with 186 kills and has recorded double-digit kills in 11 matches, including twice in Big Ten play. Gordon is averaging 3.51 kills per set, nearly two kills per set higher than last season. She also has 34 digs, 39 blocks and 205.5 points, already surpassing her totals from last season in kills, digs and points.
• Jenna Hanes has recorded 78 kills and 38 blocks this season, including six kills and six blocks in Michigan's win at USC. Hanes hit .737 earlier this season with 14 kills on 19 swings without an error, the third-best single-match hitting percentage in program history. The junior is hitting .412 this season and has committed just two errors in Big Ten play.
• All 17 Wolverines have seen action this season, with seven appearing in every set and six starting every match. Michigan utilized two liberos for the first time since the rule was introduced in 2024, with Hannah Brady entering to serve for Martin.
• Iowa enters the weekend with a 12-6 overall record and a 1-3 mark in Big Ten play. The Hawkeyes defeated Rutgers on Sept. 26 for their lone conference win while falling in four sets to Ohio State and Penn State and in five sets at Maryland. Michigan leads the all-time series 51-28 and won a five-set match last season. U-M's most recent loss in the series came at Iowa in 2022.
• Oregon enters the weekend with a 12-2 overall record and a 3-1 Big Ten mark. The Ducks' two losses came against No. 11 Arizona State and No. 7 Wisconsin, while Oregon has earned ranked wins over Minnesota and Purdue. The Ducks are coming off a four-set win over Illinois and will play at Michigan State on Friday before facing the Wolverines on Saturday. Michigan and Oregon have split six all-time meetings, 3-3, with each team winning on the road since the Ducks joined the Big Ten.
