GENEVA, N.Y. -- University of Michigan senior midfielder Lora Clarke was named a National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-American on Tuesday (Dec. 12). It is the first career All-America citation for Clarke, who was voted to the third team.
Michigan has had an All-American on its roster in 26 of the last 27 years and boasted 33 different All-Americans -- combining for 51 total honors -- in its 51-year program history.
Clarke, who transitioned from forward to midfield this season, posted three goals and a team- and career-high nine assists as U-M's primary corner inserter. She scored the Wolverines' game-winning goal in double overtime in the regular-season finale against Michigan State and assisted on game-winners against No. 10 Saint Joseph's and Indiana. Clarke also was named to the All-Big Ten and NFHCA All-West Region first team and was a first-time honoree for both of those honors as well.
A Michigan team captain this season, Clarke has started 64 of 75 total games played at Michigan over the last four years, including all 17 games this season, and has accumulated 21 career goals, including five game-winners, with 17 assists and 59 points. She will return for her final season next fall.
