NEWTON, Mass. -- Senior Lily Farkas' goal in the 52nd minute lifted the the University of Michigan women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Boston College on Thursday night (Aug. 25) at Newton Field.
Michigan (2-1) outshot Boston College (2-1) 11-10, with Farkas' first goal of the year coming on a helper from fellow senior Dani Wolfe.
The first half was as even as could be, as the two sides sat scoreless at the intermission with shots even at seven apiece. Nino boasted four saves, while the Eagles had three corners to the Wolverines' one.
U-M was aggressive coming out of the half, earning a pair of corners in the opening five minutes of action.
The work paid off in the 52nd minute, as graduate student Meredith Haakenson's work rate led to a ball played at the top of the box by Wolfe. Farkas received the pass at the top of the box and finished lower-left for her second tally of the season to give U-M a 1-0 advantage and eventual match-winning tally.

Farkas led the offense with her goal and four shots. Nino was stingy in goal, picking up the clean sheet with four saves. The shutout is the fourth of her career.
Graduate transfer Margot Ridgeway saw her first Wolverine action at centerback, playing 61 minutes.
Michigan concludes its Massachusetts road trip with a contest against Boston University on Sunday (Aug. 28) at noon. The contest will be live streamed on ESPN+.
