El Mokbel Scores Twice as Michigan Blanks Georgia Southern

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Natelle El Mokbel scored twice and Malia Zillman earned her first collegiate shutout victory as the University of Michigan women's soccer team celebrated Senior Night with a 3-0 victory over Georgia Southern on Thursday (Sept. 3) at U-M Soccer Stadium.
Head coach Dave DiIanni picked up his first home win at Michigan, and El Mokbel's goals were her first in the maize and blue.
After a scoreless first half, Michigan (2-0-3) broke through in the 67th minute. El Mokbel found the back of the net at the 66:25 mark off an assist from Lilley Bosley to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead.
El Mokbel doubled the advantage 10 minutes later, scoring her second goal of the match on an assist from Elle Ervin. Ella Jablinskey capped the scoring in the 85th minute, converting Bosley's second assist of the night at 84:15 to give Michigan the 3-0 advantage.
Michigan controlled the offensive chances, outshooting Georgia Southern 19-6, including a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Wolverines recorded 12 of their 19 shots in the second half. Jablinskey led Michigan with five shots, while El Mokbel and Ervin each added four.
Malia Zillman played all 90 minutes in goal for the Wolverines, making three saves.
Next up, U-M opens Big Ten Conference play when it travels to Evanston, Ill., for a Thursday, Sept. 10 contest at Northwestern. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be streamed live on B1G+.
