ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 12-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team returns to U-M Lacrosse Stadium Saturday, March 26, when it takes on No. 4 Northwestern in a Big Ten Conference contest at noon on the Big Ten Network.
Wolverine Bites
• The Michigan defense ranks third nationally with a goals-against average of 7.3. The Wolverines are led by fifth-year senior Katherine Galzerano and senior Morgan Whitaker, who have picked up a combined 32 ground balls and have also caused 21 turnovers this season. Also playing a huge role on the defensive end of the ball are sophomore Maddie Burns and freshman Maya Rutherford, who have started every game and have been key to keeping their offensive match-ups off the scoreboard. Finally, in the cage, Arielle Weissman has 70 saves and ranks second in the Big Ten with a .556 save percentage.
• Fifth-year senior Caitlin Muir is just 11 points away from reaching 200 career points. She would become the first Wolverine in history to do so, as she is already the U-M point's leader with 189 career points.
• U-M has 21 players who have recorded at least one point this season, including nine in double-digits just 10 games into the 2022 season. Furthermore, Muir, Kaitlyn Mead and Kaylee Dyer all have 20 or more points with Muir leading the team with 27.

The Wildcats rank No. 4 nationally and bring a 7-2 record into the Saturday contest with their losses coming from No. 1 Boston College and No. 2 North Carolina. Northwestern is outscoring its opponents 147-124 and averages 33.2 shots per game.
Lauren Gilbert is tied for eighth nationally with 49 points, 37 of which were goals, while Erin Coykendall has recorded 39 points with 23 goals and 16 assists. In the cage, Madison Doucettte has started all nine games with a .360 save percentage and 64 saves.
