GILBERT, Ariz. -- University of Michigan senior midfielder Guadalupe Fernandez Lacort was named to the Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-America first team on Tuesday morning (Dec. 10). It is Fernandez Lacort's second All-America citation in as many years.
Michigan has had an All-American on its roster in 22 of the last 23 years, with 26 Wolverines combining for 42 total honors. Fernandez Lacort is the 13th different U-M player to garner first-team honors in program history and the fourth in five seasons.
Fernandez Lacort, who previously earned NFHCA All-America third-team recognition in 2018, posted career highs in her final collegiate season this season with three goals, including the game-winner in Michigan's home win over No. 2 Maryland, and a team-best 12 assists. She also was named the 2019 Big Ten Player of the Year and a unanimous selection to the All-Big Ten first team.
U-M's primary stick stopper on its penalty-corner attack and field general in the midfield over the last three seasons, Fernandez Lacort served two years as a team captain and contributed to a stellar 48-17 record over her tenure with two Big Ten titles, a tournament title and three NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the semifinals in 2017.
The Wolverines wrapped their season with a 13-7 record and a fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.
