SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's lacrosse team dropped its second consecutive game as the Wolverines fell to 20th-ranked Notre Dame by a score of 14-8 on Tuesday night (April 3) at the Loftus Sports Center.
With the score knotted at 2 early in the action, Notre Dame used a 6-0 spurt to take control of the game. Andie Aldave and Jessi Masinko each scored a pair of goals during the run, which gave the Irish full control of an opening half during which they outshot the Wolverines by a count of 19-13.
Notre Dame took an 11-5 lead into the second half and kept the pressure on. The game ended in a defensive struggle, however, in part thanks to Alli Kothari, who came into the game in relief in net. Kothari stopped eight of the 11 shots she faced, including a seven-save effort in the second half as the teams played even on the scoreboard.
Chandler Kirby and Lilly Grass led the Wolverines with two goals apiece with Grass adding two assists. Caitlin Muir added a goal and two assists while Adriana Pendino recorded eight draw controls for a season-high.
The Wolverines will return home on Sunday (April 8) when the Wolverines host Johns Hopkins on Kids Go Blue Club Day at noon at U-M Lacrosse Stadium.
