
Three Wolverines Named United Soccer Coaches All-Region

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Three members of the University of Michigan women's soccer team received United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors on Tuesday (Nov. 27). Senior Reilly Martin and sophomores Nicki Hernandez and Sarah Stratigakis were all named second team all-region.
The honor marks the first for all three student-athletes, while Michigan ranked third in the Big Ten Conference with three honorees.
Martin ends her career as a Wolverine with her first all-region nod and fourth straight conference honor, as she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team in 2015, All-Big Ten second team in 2016 and All-Big Ten third team in 2017. The Carmel, Indiana, native ranked third for the Wolverines with 16 points (six goals, four assists) this season, highlighted by her second career two-goal performance against Central Michigan on Sept. 7. The starting forward is one of just two players to start all 19 matches for the Wolverines, playing 1,423 minutes on the pitch. Martin is one of just four Wolverines to finish her carer with 20 goals and 20 assists, as she closed out her four years in Ann Arbor with 21 goals and 24 assists.
Hernandez garnered her all-region honor after starting all 19 matches for the Maize and Blue. The Naperville, Illinois, native paced the Wolverines in her second season with 22 points, which included a team-best eight goals and six assists. Hernandez netted four game-winners and scored a goal in each of Michigan's first four matches, and she had a six-point outing when she netted two goals and had two assists against Central Michigan.
Stratigakis' second team all-region honor comes in part after playing in all 19 matches (18 starts). This year, Stratigakis also earned her second straight All-Big Ten second team honor. The Woodbridge, Ontario, native collected 17 points (seven goals, three assists), good for second on the team and tied for 10th in the Big Ten. Stratigakis scored two game-winners this year for the Maize and Blue and had one multi-point match with one goal and one assist against Central Michigan.
