KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Freshman Nkem Ezurike (Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia/Sackville) of the University of Michigan women's soccer team was named to the 2010 NSCAA/Performance Subaru NCAA Division I Women All-Great Lakes Region third team, the coach's organization announced Friday (Dec. 3).
Ezurike led the Wolverines to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2006 with a team-leading nine goals, including three game-winners, and 19 points. Ezurike collected All-Big Ten second team and Big Ten All-Freshman team accolades as she became just the fifth Wolverine rookie to lead the team in scoring. A TopDrawerSoccer.com All-Rookie Team honorable mention, Ezurike's nine markers rank tied for fourth all-time in goals by a freshman.
Ezurike is the first Wolverine to earn NSCAA All-Region status since Melissa Dobbyn (2004-07) was named to the first team in 2005.
The Wolverines finished the 2010 season with a 10-5-4 record, finished fifth in the Big Ten and made the NCAA Tournament.
