Blake Picks Up Second Straight Big Ten Weekly Honor

PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Senior Jessica Blake (Perth, Western Australia/St. Mary's Anglican) of the University of Michigan field hockey team was named Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week on Monday (Sept. 27) in recognition of her nine-point performance in the Wolverines' pair of weekend road victories.

The weekly recognition is the second of Blake's career and the second for the U-M field hockey team this season. It marks the fourth time in U-M program history that an individual Wolverine claimed back-to-back conference player of the week honors, with Blake joining Katie Oakes (Sept. 9-16, 1998), Kelli Gannon (Oct. 3-10, 2000) and Kristi Gannon (Oct. 14-21, 2002).
U-M will return to action Saturday (Oct. 2) for a home games against Northwestern. The conference match is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Phyllis Ocker Field.
